An Experienced Leader in Educational Reform

Harvin Moore serves Houston as Trustee of the Houston Independent School District, having been chosen by the voters of Houston in a landslide 2003 election, and re-elected for a four year term in November 2005. He represents District VII, which includes River Oaks, the Galleria, Briargrove, Tanglewood, Briarmeadows and parts of Memorial, as well as Oak Forest, Lazybrook and Timbergrove, among others. Harvin is a long time educational policy leader who is committed to reforming Texas' largest school district, and he brings experience and fresh ideas to the Board. Head of finance and operations for a Houston aerospace company, Harvin provides a crucial business and finance perspective to HISD, and his persistence and energy have been invaluable over the past two years.

In addition to serving on the Board of Education, Harvin also tutors at HISD's River Oaks Elementary School each week, and serves on the Board of the HISD Foundation and Preschool for ALL. He has worked for years to improve the quality of education in HISD, through research, teaching, philanthropy, and board leadership of some of Houston's most effective public education organizations.

Harvin appreciates the support of the citizens of District VII that have asked him to continue doing what must be done to make HISD all it can be for the future of our children.
